Non of that cheesy plastic which shaves itself down after a year of hard use. If you want a quality wheel expect to spend 600 or more on an ECCI wheel made with machined quality fatigue proof steel. They give you basic visuals because if your too busy looking at the steam coming off the cars as you make that left hand turn off the nurburgring onto nords, your going to be lapped by the guy who's counting in seconds so he knows when to brake for the next corner.Īnd as far as steering wheels go, logtiechs are good but If you can get 2 years out of one you are doing really good or not using it enough. Alot of people called it insanly hard, but if you watch a real FIA GT race you'll it marks it closely.īut they werent made to have graphics like shift, or GT5 which are there selling point. Nothing more exciting than runing at Spa around 10pm with it pooring rain, and you can barely make out the brakes lights in the trailing spray, and your trying to stay in the try like because your low treaded hard rain tires cant grip the track because its starting to flood. After runing a 3 hour endurance race with a good wheel you truely feel what the real drivers go thru. Graphically GTR 2 looks the best and is my choice of sim because of its real time Day to night cycles, realistic changing weather.

Sim racing is all about Timing, and consistancy, not power slides and rear ending everyone in front of you to get ahead, thats not what racing is about. I've been siming for a long time, and still havent figured it all out completely, and each sim has its differents but every single sim I mentions in my previous post, real life physics, car setup and driving style all apply. If you dont have basic knowledge of the geometry of how a car handles at fast speeds, drag, weight transfer, apexing a corner, maximizing your entry mid corner and exit.

They are good fun racing games, but call them simulations in a room full of hardcore sim racers and you will be :biggun: with no question. Oh yeah and um, DO NOT ever call grand turismo, grid, NFS shift, or Forza racing games, or anything close to those types, Simulations. Its not that the wheels are bad, its just I wear them out. Soon to be my 10th when my logitech G27 gets here.

I'm on my 9th steering wheel and they usually last me less than 2 years before they where out, lol. The only reason being is time, lol.ħ0 percent of my gaming on the PC is sim racing. Havent tried Iracing which was started by the Papyrus lead designer David Krammer. I currently race weekly at Race2Play, which has been my permanant home for the pass 3 years. Then came papyrus Hawaii network, followed by TEN. When I first started Online racing was hard to come by as all we had was dial up. With these sims I've raced in various leagues and championship races thru out 13 years. I've been a loyal Simbin fan with there GTR 1, GTR 2, GT legends, Race 07, and GTR evolution. The only true stockcar sim out nowdays is Arca sim racing, however since I started road racing with GTR I've left ovals as a memory. I've owned EA F1 2001, 2002, 99-02 sims, their nascar sim was comeplete trash.

Indycar 2 (Name changed to Cart racing after indy split into 2 leagues), and of course Grand Prix legends. First sim was Indycar racing from papyrus back in 93.
